When Michael invited his close friend and fellow creative Derek out for a photography escape, it sparked not just a return to the craft—but the beginning of something bigger. The Purple Orchid Art Gallery was born from that trip, and today their collaborative pieces, along with their solo works, are proudly displayed throughout the Purple Orchid Resort and now here, for all to explore and enjoy.

After more than 15 years immersed in portrait, wedding, and studio photography, Derek took a leap into a new adventure with the Purple Orchid. Though the career path shifted, the creative spark of photography remained. His return to the lens—this time through landscapes, light, and exploration—rekindled that passion. Derek’s work reflects a deep appreciation for natural beauty, peace, and the art of storytelling through stillness and scenery.
